Skala Fourkas is on the west coast of Kassandra peninsula in Halkidiki, about 95km southeast of Thessaloniki. A very small, quiet community of 800 souls, Skala Fourkas has a nice, semicircular beach backed by a traditional seaside settlement. Skala Fourkas is sheltered by wooded hills of the Kassandreia-Fourka nature preserve to the north, while to the east and south the farmland stretches away as it gradually gains elevation.
Skala Fourkas is differentiated from Fourkas, a village of similar size a few kilometers inland, by the word "Skala," which technically means "stairs," the idea perhaps being that the village stairsteps down to the sea.
The Blue Flag beach is soft sand, with a few pebbles mixed in depending where you plant yourself. It's an organized beach complete with sun beds and umbrellas. Since while at the beach you're already in the middle of the village, there are plenty of placed to eat nearby.
There are also a number of decent hotels, many of which are clustered just south of the village. There are also rooms and apartments for rent in the village proper.

A bit of night life is to be had, but don't expect large, wild parties. There is a beach bar or two frequented by the young, which can get a bit lively. Otherwise expect some pleasant socializing over food and drink, with some music here and there.
