5-star luxury on one of the most beautiful, underrated coastal areas of Greece. Parga Beach Resort is set in the middle of the perfect, kilometer-long curve of Blue Flag Valtos Beach in Parga, northwest Greece.
Although Parga is on the west coast, the resort, and the beach, are mostly south-facing, which is just the thing if you’re into getting a decent tan. The beach, has a beautiful view of Parga’s crown jewel, the 11th century Venetian castle perched on a headland which defines the eastern terminus of the beach.
The resort offers everything one could hope for in 5-star luxury: orthopedic, ecology-friendly Coco Mat mattresses, a pillow menu, beautiful garden vies rooms, suites with private swimming pools, top-notch spa services with unique, open-air Wellness Corners, state of the art exercise equipment, lots of family-time activities, and two first-class restaurants.
Parga Beach Resort attracts a lot of repeat visitors. Guests are especially happy with the family-friendly atmosphere, the menu choices, the helpful staff, and the excellent massage menu of the Spa.
Rooms
The greatest selling point of Parga Beach Resort is that it is not housed in one or two monolithic buildings crammed with rooms and suites. The resort is instead spread out over several acres of land and its 134 rooms and suites are housed in a large number of bungalow-style, red tile-roofed buildings that both gives them the air of detached, private residences, with a number of private pools, and takes advantage of the abundant greenery of that part of Greece, making for rather lush gardens and yards. It’s as if you’re living in a village of traditionally-designed Greek homes, but with all the modern amenities.
Rooms are beautifully designed to look like homes, with their tuck and roll headrests on the beds, gold-framed wall mirrors, antique-looking yet functional and comfortable furniture, and marble and tile-clad bathrooms. Color scheme is muted earth tones, lighting is warm, and rooms are tastefully decorated with
Amenities include hair dryer, mini fridge, bath and beach towels, slippers, built-in wardrobe, free WiFi, LCD satellite TV, safe, Coco mat orthopedic mattresses, pillow menu, telephone in the bathroom, bath amenities, and individual AC, amongst others.
Premium Garden Room
Designed for couples, and families of up to 4 members, the Premium Garden Room is the ultimate in privacy, comfort and beauty of design, with bedside hanging light fixtures, modern oval glass-topped coffee tables in some rooms, upholstered balcony or terrace furniture, and a pleasant view of the abundant greenery outside the sliding glass doors.
Premium Garden Room with Partial Sea View
Similar in all aspects to the Premium Garden Room, the Premium Garden Room with Partial Sea View adds the bonus of a glimpse of the sea over the tree tops of the lusciously-appointed grounds.
Eden Suite
The Eden Suite, in Parga Beach’s newer annex building, connected to the main resort grounds across a country road, is different in look from the other suites in that the color scheme is all crème and white, and a large, open, graceful proscenium arch separates the sleeping area from the living room area. A second proscenium arch graces the exterior wall of the covered patio. The effect of these lines is to accentuate the open air style floor plan and set the two sections of the suite off in elegant style. The bathroom shower cabin also has a curved tile wall design, making the cabin U-shaped. Choice of views are of the beautifully-maintained garden, or of the annex’s pool.
Horizon Suite with Sea View and Kitchenette
It’s name comes from its mostly unobstructed view of the sea and the horizon. But the obstructions, if there are any, are pleasant: a few taller trees which are part of the natural environment. Loft-style design includes bedroom and sitting area, and kitchenette for simple food prep. Spacious, stylish, with a inspiring view of the sea. You can’t ask for much more than that.
Grand Bliss Suite
This is Parga Beach’s largest Suite, and includes one large bedroom and separate living room, tiled floors, covered terrace or balcony, and a spare, open elegant design concept. Little touches like flowers in a vase at the writing desk, or a fruit bowl on the coffee table, adds just that homey feel.
Perfect Bliss Suite with Private Pool
The nicest accommodation in the resort, this spacious suite comes with its own private splash pool with sun beds and is sub-divided into a sitting area and bedroom with a slotted wooden floor to ceiling room divider. A low privacy wall borders the pool and terrace.
Aura Suite & Aura Suite with Private Pool (Annex Building)
The Aura Suites are new offerings from Parga Beach. These roomy accommodations come with all the amenities offered by Parga Beach’s other rooms and suites and have either a garden or a pool view. They can be found in the Annex, which is accessed by a pedestrian crossing of a local, lightly-traffic road. They’re beautifully sited at ground level amid the mature trees and lawns of the resort’s gardens, and close to the Annex’s swimming pool. The suites are designed in a loft style and divided into a bedroom and sitting area with a sliding room divider for privacy. They’re full of light and all the architectural elements which make all of Parga Beach’s other rooms and bungalows so enjoyable to stay in. They come in two styles; one with, and one without its own private pool.
Penthouse Bliss Suite with Tub
The Penthouse Bliss Suite is aptly named. Located on the top floor of the Annex Building, this magnificent suite has a spacious rooftop patio which gives a wonderfully panoramic view of the surrounding topographical features: mountains, sea local flora, and charming, tile-roofed nearby buildings. An added bonus is the private plunge pool on the terrace. The loft-style layout covers two floors and offers a master bedroom, two sitting/sleeping areas, and that wonderful terrace and plunge pool. The Annex is accessed by a pedestrian crossing of a lightly trafficked local road.
Maison Bliss Suite with Private Pool
The Maison Bliss Suite is the largest and best accommodation at Parga Beach. It’s a complete, detached 2-story home away from home suitable for up to 8 guests. The Maison Bliss is in the new section of the resort. The suite has a large master bedroom, 2 additional sleeping and sitting areas, and a private terrace leading to a magnificent back garden and a private pool surrounded by hedges for additional privacy. If you’re looking for lots of room, lots of privacy, and an unforgettable holiday experience, look no further.
Food and Drink
Parga Beach Resort is served by the Thalassa seaside restaurant, the Alselea modern Mediterranean restaurant, and the Ammos beach bar.
Thalassa (“Sea”) restaurant is right on the beachfront, where you can enjoy the lapping of the waves, and the fresh, oxygen-rich breeze coming in off the sea. During the evening, the lighting atop the Venetian castle in the near distance is nothing if not awe-inspiring. It’s one of the most beautiful settings for a meal you’ll ever experience.
This high-class eating venue serves premium, traditional taverna-style food including fresh-caught fish and tasteful, lemon juice-garnished grilled meat along with horiatiki and other salads, fresh fruit, and a wide selection of traditional dessert items, as well as an extensive wine list. The traditional Greek Night features live music and dancing, so, having eaten, you can push your chair away from your table and dance away a few calories. Open daily for lunch and dinner, weather permitting.
Alselea is Parga Beach Resort’s new open air seaside restaurant situated near where the resort’s olive grove meets the sea (Als= “Sea” + elea =“olive”). High quality, Mediterranean-based meals are prepared and served at Alselea. Enjoy the meal of your choice overlooking Valtos Beach, watch the pleasure craft bobbing in the water, and enjoy the panorama of beautiful Parga whilst you dine. Mediterranean meals are prepared with a contemporary twist at the table of your choice, whether on the beach or in the garden. If the weather’s looking iffy, there is a stone-paved covered arcade for shelter.
Ammos (“Sand”) Beach Bar complements your day on the beach with liquid refreshment brought to your sun bed. Cocktails, lighter alcoholic fare, fresh juice, exotic teas, and frappes, as well as a wide variety of snacks, are just a few of the items you can order and have brought to your favorite sun bathing spot.
Spa and Wellness
The Blossom Wellness Center is Parga Beach Resort’s answer to the question, “How best can I recover from all that stress I go through during my workaday life in my job?” Blossom Wellness Center’s aim is to restore harmony to your mind and your body, invigorate both body and soul, and apply treatments and techniques which have stood the test of time for many centuries.
The Blossom Wellness Center operates in three interlocking elements: 1) the Spa itself, 2) the Outdoor Wellness Corners, and 3), the Fitness Center. The Outdoor Wellness Center is where certain treatments are administered in the fresh air, the abundant plant life pumping oxygen into the air and enhancing the treatment experience. The Fitness Center is the place to go to tighten that body up and make it more fit for both personal health and the ideal beach/pool body.
The overall goal of all these methodologies is both internal and external health through the creative modern use of traditional methods, some of them stretching back thousands of years.
Amongst the various treatments are hammam sessions, couples massage, aromatherapy, facials, and beauty treatments such as waxing and hair styling.
All in all, the Blossom Wellness Center helps you to stay trim, and give you that healthy, pampered glow.
Activities
There are a wealth of activities available at Parga Beach Resort beyond the regular, daily stuff like swimming, sunbathing, leisurely walks after an excellent meal, and the like. Many of these activities are for the entire family. For the very fit there is a sunrise kayaking tour first thing in the morning; three hours of sights and exercise. There are bicycle rides through the surrounding olive groves and local topography. There is a water sports center close to the resort for all kinds of water-based fun. There are regular movie nights with family-friendly fare. There is a game room with activities ranging from board games, electronic games, a ton of books to read, and much more.
For those who are a bit more well-heeled, you can rent a luxury yacht for an explorations of the coastline around Parga, and a visit to some of those more out of the way beaches. Walking tours of historic Parga are available, as well as visits to some local archeological digs. There is the weekly Greek Night featuring traditional Greek fare as well as live music and traditional dance, and a BBQ Night with falling off the bone BBQ accompanied by the strains of the resort’s local jazz ensemble.
In the Area
Parga is one of the most picturesque places in the country; pastel-colored homes stacked almost one on top of another as they climb the steep incline from the harbour. Overlooking all of it is the Venetian Castle, the most prominent landmark for many miles around. Take a tour of this historic, 11th century edifice, and enjoy the view from its perch atop the steepest and highest headland in the area. Parga is a town full of Venetian-era architecture, and interesting, narrow, winding streets. Parga had never been ruled by the Ottomans; it was instead a holding of Venice, which gives it an entirely different aspect than much of the rest of Greece. There’s also the Castle of Anthousa, or the Ali Pasha Castle, atop another hill above Parga, still armed by two guns brought from Russia in 1814, when the castle was built.
There are all kinds of hidden beaches and coves in the area to visit. There’s the tiny Panagia Island, with its chapel and rocky outcrop. There are lots of great seafront restaurants in Parga, as well.
Corfu, one of the greenest and most beautiful Greek islands, is just a hop, skip and jump away to the northwest of Parga, its southern end 25km from Parga and clearly visible. Historic Preveza is 45km down the coast. Depending on your time and inclination, there are lots of other things to see in this region of Greece, known as Epirus. It’s the least-visited, least-known (to tourists) and one of the most beautiful regions in Greece.
