Louis Phaethon Beach is a four-star resort near Paphos, Cyprus, with five-star service. One of seven Louis brand hotels in the Paphos area, Louis Phaethon Beach is named after Phaethon, the son of Helios, the sun god, who transited the heavens daily, driving his chariot and providing warmth and light to the earth.

Phaethon, a novice driver, borrowed his father’s chariot, but drove the sun too close to the earth, scorching parts of it, then drove too far away, freezing other parts. This explains the extreme cold and heat in certain parts of earth, and the extreme skin colors of its people. Louis Phaethon is neither too ‘hot’ nor too ‘cold,’ but ‘just right as a destination for couples and families.

Sited on a little nub of a peninsula about 3km down the coast from Paphos in western Cyprus and a literal stone’s throw from a new archeological dig, Louis Phaethon Beach comes with its 3 restaurants, 2 bars, its own little water park, beachfront, massive outdoor pool, an indoor pool, a children’s pool, a 10-person hot tub, a spa, sauna and fitness center, an entertainment venue, and tennis courts. The hotel underwent a massive renovation on 2020, refurbishing all of its rooms, the lobby and the main restaurant. For all intents, the hotel is functionally new place dating from that year.

Amongst many of the hotel’s services are a self-serve laundry, baby sitting services, an on-call doctor, a games room, and a night club/disco.

Guests particularly enjoy the location, its availability as a wedding venue, the general relaxing feel of the place, the entertainment, the very helpful staff, the animation staff, and the great sunsets. Louis Phaethon  Beach is known for its repeat business, always a good sign.

Rooms

Rooms come with two view options; sea view and inland view. Because the hotel is configured as a rough semi-circle, views can vary within those two view options. Some sea view rooms overlook the patio just behind the main building, with the pool and the sea in the further background. Some rooms overlook the pool, with the view continuing on to up the coast towards Paphos, or down the coast away from Paphos. Most rooms do not have a direct view to the sea, but a pleasant combination of the grounds, the coast, and the sea.

Something similar applies to the inland views. Some inland views directly overlook Poseidonos Ave., with farmland in the frame, beyond the road.  Some inland view rooms look up the coast towards Paphos, which is built on a hill, in the distance. And some rooms on the inland side of the hotel look down the coast and provide guests with a nice side view of the sea.

Room amenities include free Wi-Fi, private balcony or terrace, satellite TV channels, fridge, safety deposit box, hair dryer, tea and coffee making facilities, private W.C., and choice of single or double beds. Room décor is an eye-pleasing combination of off-white walls, beige drapes and navy blue blankets. The desk runs along the wall at the foot of the bed, with various plug-ins in the wall above the desk, and a wall-mounted TV above that. Floors are stained wood laminate.
