Ideally situated a few meters from the beach, family-friendly Leonardo Cypria Bay has it all; a huge, grotto-like freeform swimming pool, extensive greenery, a first class spa, a well-equipped exercise room, 293 rooms, suites, and swim-up rooms, great food, and a full slate of activities for kids and adults alike all for exceptionally reasonable prices. Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice award winner, 2022.
Famous for its repeat customers, Leonardo Cypria Bay is on the beach just a few kilometers down the shoreline from Paphos in southwestern Cyprus. A 20-minute bike ride along the beautiful seafront promenade will get you to the ancient traditional birthplace of Aphrodite, goddess of love. There’s lots to see in Paphos, which we’ll deal with at the end of the article, but suffice it to say with what the hotel and spa has to offer, and the wider area, you won’t be bored. Supervised meals for kids are on offer which allow parents some ‘we’ time as their children are fed special, nutritious kids’ meals. From any standpoint, Leonardo Cypria Bay is a can’t-miss holiday destination, where you can find your own place in the sun and for a brief time leave your cares behind and de-stress under the ministrations of Cyprus’s uniquely pleasant climate.
Customers love to come to Leonardo Cypria Bay again and again, some of whom have already booked for the coming summer season as early as January. The staff is reported to be exceptionally friendly and hospitable, the entertainment options for both kids and adults get high marks, as well as the flexibility in food options which include a gluten-free menu.
Rooms
As mentioned, there are 293 rooms to choose from. These include twin/double rooms, suites, lofts, family rooms, swim-up family rooms, and executive studios. Size and location vary according to room type and view. Floors are tiled, and the décor is a pleasant blend of earth tones, teal drapes and table tops, and glass block in some rooms. Some bathrooms have a glass wall for increased natural light. Beds have padded head boards.
As for the view, there are 4 options: Inland view, Side Sea View, Sea View, and Pool View. Because the hotel is roughly configured like the letter “Y,” with the leg of the Y running towards the beach, a majority of the rooms fall into the Side Sea View category. This view gives a pleasant panorama of the hotel grounds, pool, and the sea (from the left side of the building) or the grounds, neighboring properties, and the sea, (the right side of the building).
The Sea View means that the majority of the view is taken up by the azure waters of the Med, whilst the focal point of the Pool View would be, well, the pool- in addition to the grounds and the sea. The advantage of the layout of the building is that the majority of the rooms not in the Inland View category will give guests at least a glimpse of the sea, including the spectacular sunset views from the balcony. The Inland View, while excluding the sights of the sea and grounds, is itself a pleasing view of the ground rising up to the village of Yeroskipou, a suburb of Paphos. Beyond that are higher mountains, green in the spring and brown in the summer.
Room amenities include, amongst others, free Wi-Fi, Satellite TV, mini fridge, bathrobes and slippers, AC, in-room safe, hair dryer, tea and coffee maker, and balcony or terrace.
Twin/Double Rooms
View options: Inland View, Side Sea View, Sea View. Bed choices are either twin beds, or a double bed. A fold-up bed is available for a third guest. Rooms have either bath tubs or walk-in showers.
Executive Studio Sea View
The Executive Studio comes only in Sea View, offering unobstructed vistas of the sparkling Mediterranean. Rooms are large, with lots of open space. There is a double bed, with an additional double sofa bed for children.
Family Rooms
Inland View, Side Sea View, Sea View, Pool View. Sleeps up to 4 (2 adults, 2 children) The layout of the family room provides a little more privacy for parents, as the twin beds for children are just on the other side of a low partition wall separating the parents’ bed from the childrens’ beds.
Loft Rooms
Inland View, Sea View. These large rooms are designed for up to 5 guests, and as their name implies, are found on the top floor of the hotel. The design is the most interesting in the hotel; there is an indoor staircase leading up to a second, attic level with a sofa bed for two extra guests, and the roof pitch of the building is part of the ceiling construction. Because of the height of the rooms’ location, views are the most extensive and panoramic of the hotel.
Executive Suite Sea View
Suite is configured in two rooms and houses up to 5 guests. There is a separate bedroom, and a furnished living room that doubles as a second bedroom.
Junior Suites
Inland View, Side Sea View, Sea View. The Inland View suite at 31m2 (333 sq. ft) is a bit larger than the Side Sea View and Sea View Junior Suites 27m2 (290 sq. ft.), plus balcony. It has a double bed and a double sofa bed.
Swim-up Family Rooms
Garden View, Sea View. These coveted rooms are designed with a private terrace that gives off directly to the shared river pool. Room is one large bedroom accommodating 2 adults and 2 children. Views are either of the pleasant greenery of the grounds, or of the sparkling sea.
Food and Drink
Leonardo Cypria Bay has 3 restaurants and 2 bars to choose from.
The Blue Horizon, which has live cooking stations and an international buffet, is the resort’s flagship restaurants. The Blue Horizon offers international fare as well as selected local cuisine favorites. Its in-house bakery makes pasta, breads, and pizzas, the entire process viewable by diners, and the odor of baking bread permeates the restaurant’s atmosphere. A children’s buffet is also on offer, with video entertainment displayed on a flat screen monitor, as well as a microwave to warm up toddler’s meals.
The Moyragio Greek Restaurant is pleasantly sited al fresco style with a view of the grounds, pool, and Mediterranean in the background. Breakfast, lunch and dinner Greek style is on the menu, and many of the ingredients are locally-sourced. The food is classic Greek/Cypriot/Mediterranean, and there’s a lot to like as the portions are generous.
Stars and Stripes is the place to go for American favorites: pizzas, burgers, fries, milkshakes, and the like. This dinner-only restaurant also serves snacks during the day.
Bars
The Lobby Bar is situated in the beating heart of the hotel, with a prime view of the Mediterranean thrown into the mix. Guests can enjoy the understated live music as they sip on a wide variety of cocktails and mixed drinks provided by expert mixologists, one of a variety of beers, or soft drinks, coffee, or tea.
A cocktail from the Pool Bar is the perfect complement to a day in the sun at poolside. Relaxing in a sun bed, or seated in the specially designed cultured stone lagoon with swim up seating and little waterfall, enjoying a frappe or soft drink, completes the picture.
Spa and Wellness
While there is a sauna, steam bath, high salinity therapeutic indoor pool, and hot tub available at the Leonardo Cypria Bay hotel, there are no spa facilities on-site. However there are facilities right next door at sister hotel Leonardo Plaza Cypria Maris Beach Hotel and Spa:

In addition to the many sports and exercise options listed in the ‘Fitness’ section above, there is a full slate of live shows and music at next door’s Cypria Maris Beach Hotel and Spa.
Fun for Kids
Kids have a lot to choose from in both entertaining and educational activity options. There are places where they can play under supervision whilst parents take a walk or a swim.
Activities include face painting, arts and crafts, a children’s playground, a kid’s corner at the Blue horizon restaurant (kids can enjoy an hour’s supervised meal whilst parents get a bit of a dinner break), and a children’s activity pool.
