If you’re looking for the ideal idyll by the sea and luxury accommodations with Cyprus’s largest seaside national park steps away, Leonardo Crystal Cove is the place for you.
Leonardo Crystal Cove, a new, very reasonable-priced 4-star adults-only resort in Protaras, Cyprus, is as far east in Greek Cyprus (and the European Union) as one can travel. Right next door to the natural beauties of Cape Greco National Forest Park, Leonardo Crystal Cove’s environs invite guests to relax, enjoy nature at her finest, both in its tidal pools and sea caves, and on its overland hiking trails, but most of all to indulge in all the luxury that this resort has to offer. This includes lazy afternoons in a sun bed by the pool sipping one’s favorite cocktail, a plethora of entertainment options and sports activities, a wide variety of dining and drinking options in two restaurants and two bars, lots of different kinds of liquid refreshments at two bars, and a spa experience expertly tailored to meet your needs.
Guests especially liked the excellent massage service at the spa, the variety of food, the hotel’s spic and span cleanliness, its venue for weddings, and the condition of the pool and its surrounding gardens.
Rooms
Leonardo Crystal Cove’s one hundred and twenty-three rooms are spacious, light-filled and airy, with most rooms, because of the alignment of the building, having a side sea view. Floors are brown/grey laminate, with azure and walnut earth tones predominating the walls and furnishings. Beds are firm, pillows are soft, and sheets are of the best quality linen. Amenities include large screen SAT TVs, individually controlled air conditioning units, free Wi-Fi, a fully stocked mini fridge, marble-clad bathrooms, walk-in showers, and luxury toiletries such as bathrobes, slippers, lux body and hair care products.
Room Views fall into three categories: Inland View, Side Sea View, Sea View.
Inland View looks over the neighboring buildings for a couple blocks, and then to the rise of brown hills further to the west. The view is pleasantly semi-rural. Side Sea View gives guests a bit of both; to the northwest, guests can see the pool, the buildings along the coast, the shingle beach, and the glittering sea. To the southeast, you can see the shoreline stretching to the headland Cape Greco, about half a kilometer away, the aforementioned furthermost eastern reach of Cyprus and of the EU. Sea View stretches northeast beyond the greenery of the resort’s grounds to the 150-meter rock shingle beach, to the sparkling waters of the southeastern Med.
Double / Twin Rooms
Double/Twin Rooms fall into all three view categories; Inland, Side Sea, and Sea View. Bed can be twin, or double. Rooms are designed for two guests, but a bed can be added for an extra guest. Bathrooms are equipped with walk-in showers.
Junior Suite with Outdoor Hot tub
Romance is the keyword for this suite. It’s the place to stay for honeymooning couples and those wishing to restore a spark to their marriage. Guests can admire the sunrise from the cocoon-like warmth of their balcony hot tub. Views of the grounds and the sea are to die for. Suite is flooded with clear light during the daytime hours. Only 4 of these suites are available.
Executive Suites

The Executive Suite Side View and the Executive Suite Front Sea View are the hotel’s largest at 52m2.

This spacious, light-filled room has a large corner balcony overlooking the grounds and pool, with the sea in the distance. Balcony is furnished with sun beds and a table and chairs. No info on square meters or how many the room sleeps.
Food and Drink
As mentioned in the intro, there are two restaurants and two bars on offer and Leonardo Crystal Cove. Restaurants are the Blue Horizon, and Little Italy a la carte.
The Blue Horizon is a large, open plan dining room with tables for four and a bank of windows looking out onto the grounds and sea comprising one wall. Blue Horizon is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s specialty is their all you can eat buffet including gluten-free options, and a live cooking counter where guests can watch the chefs do their magic. Guests can choose from desserts from all over the world at the International dessert counter.
Little Italy a la carte is like a side trip to Italy from Cyprus, with its classic Italian dishes and desserts such as ravioli, risotto, and gelato of all kinds of flavours. Guests can dine on the terrace under the stars if they choose, and have a bit of a view as Little Italy is on the first floor (second floor for many English speakers) of the hotel.
The bars are the Ariadne Lounge Bar and the Thetis Pool Bar.
The central location of the Ariadne Lounge Bar makes it the perfect spot for meeting up with friends and family, or for meeting new friends. The bar serves a wide variety of cocktails, beers, aperitifs, liqueurs, and many different soft drinks. If guests are feeling peckish there are also canapés to snack on.
The Thetis Pool Bar is just the place for a break from your fun in the sun for a sip in the shade. Cocktails of all kinds are on offer, as well as other mixed drinks, beers and soft drinks. This open air bar can also feed guests with sandwiches, salads, and sweets.
Spa and Wellness
The on-site spa offers signature massage treatments, facial treatments, targeted massage for whatever needs work and relaxation, manicures, pedicures, makeup, facials, and spray tans.
Treatment packages are on offer for guests planning to attend a big event during their vacation. Along with spa services there is a steam bath, a sauna and an indoor heated pool.
Activities
Leonardo Crystal Cove has a tennis court, a gym, a main pool, an indoor pool, a multipurpose room, and, for entertainment, a full slate of nightly live music and shows.
In the Area
In the area there are a number of tours to choose from, such as the Blue Lagoon Cruise, which gives a great view of the local coastline, along with a couple of one-hour swimming stops with free use of masks and snorkels. There is the Caves Jeep Safari, which takes guests to the interesting rock formations, forgotten churches, and an opportunity to swim at some of Cyprus’s more deserted beaches. There’s the Ghost Town Famagusta tour which explores the former haunt of the beautiful people during the 1960’s, where movie stars, royalty and other celebrities mingled before the war of 1974.
Ayia Napa, just a 10km drive to the west, as lots to offer. There’s the quaint Ayia Napa monastery, right in the center of town, part of which is excavated out of the living rock and dedicated to Our Lady of the Forests. One can take a lazy walk along Ayia Napa’s harbor, where fishing caiques dock during the daytime and there are cafes and restaurants galore to choose from. There is the Ayia Napa Sculpture Park, where people peruse the works of 20 sculptors from around the globe.
There are miles of hiking trails in the Cape Greco National Forest Park, which offers peace and quiet, beautiful views, and even bike trails. Cape Greco is a bird watcher’s paradise: It’s a key migration site for raptors, and forms a migratory bottleneck for red-footed falcons, honey buzzards, common kestrels, and many other species. Local species include Cyprus wheateaters, Cyprus warblers, and black francolins.
Nissi Beach is a short bus ride away, and features broad, white sand, crystal clear water, and abundant plant and bird life.
You can splash to your heart’s content at Ayia Napa’s Waterworld Themed Waterpark, where you can indulge in water slides, drive go-karts, or dine at a restaurant. Landa Beach offers a whole range of water sports, including surfing, scuba diving, and windsurfing.
For lively night life, visit Ayia Napa Square, in the heart of town, surrounded by restaurants and bars which stay open all night long.
