Grecian Sands in Ayia Napa, Cyprus, is a highly rated 5-star resort and recent Tripadvisor Traveller’s Choice winner just outside of Ayia Napa, Cyprus. About 300 meters east of its sister hotel, Grecian Bay, Grecian Sands is on one of the best beaches in Cyprus, and offers every luxury and comfort the discerning traveller could ask for, at very reasonable price points.
One highlight of the resort is the Roof Burger Bar on the top floor of the hotel, which offers, in addition to great food, tremendous panoramic views of Ayia Napa, the Mediterranean Sea, and the hill country to the north of the hotel.
The central building is a huge, double-winged affair 7 storeys high, overlooking the equally huge central swimming pool which also has a double-winged layout, mirroring that of the hotel. The building is mostly west-facing, which means many of the rooms have a good view of the sea and of Ayia Napa, which is about a kilometre down the coastline towards the west.
Grecian Sands has 3 swimming pools, including one for kids, and an indoor pool with Jacuzzi, a spa with beautician services and hair salon, a health club with sauna and steam room, 3 restaurants, 2 bars, and a combination grill and bar. There is a Kids Corner to keep the young ones busy and entertained. In short, just about everything you could ask for in a resort, you’ll find at Grecian Sands.
Guests loved the friendly, helpful staff, the well-behaved guests, the fact that it is family-run which gives the atmosphere that much more of a personal touch, the comfortable rooms, the excellent food choices, and the feeling that staff at the hotel go above and beyond what is necessary to ensure a great visit.

Featuring massive gourmet burgers (you might want to order one for two people), with great sides and salads, and other interesting menu items such as prawn tempura tacos, pulled pork quesadillas, and baked sweet potato skins.
The Ithaka Restaurant, named after the home island of Homer’s Ulysses, is on the ground floor, where the sea is at eye level, but no less beautiful. The Ulysses Bar, a sort of counterpoint to the Ithaka Restaurant, is a classy, comfy drinking venue with comfy sofas, love seats and easy chairs indoors where you can relax and enjoy the piano stylings of Grecian Sands’ resident pianist, or you can sit out on the patio and watch the stars come out as you imbibe.
The Sunset Deck and Pool Bar is on a deck overlooking the sea and the pool, featuring comfy upholstered furniture and wonderful sunset views. You can enjoy ice cream, cocktails, beer and soft drinks as you take in the beauty of the grounds, the sea, and the pool.
The Grill Bar is sited between the pool and the beach, and is where you want to be to have a drink and nosh on grilled meat, seafood, and sandwiches. You can stop by for a snack, or enjoy the a la carte or buffet lunch for more filling fare.

Activities
If you don’t want to spend your holiday just laying around in the sun (which is not a bad way to pass your time- you’re on holiday, remember?), there is a whole range of activities on offer both at Grecian Sands, and nearby.
Since we’ve mentioned it, let’s start with the beach. The beach in this area is famous all over the island as being one of the nicest, with a wide, sandy strand, absolutely transparent waters, and a bit of shelter from the wind, but not too much shelter. Relax to your heart’s content, and refresh yourself from time to time at the beach bar. Water sports, provided by an independent company, are available here. There is an outdoor pool with a kid’s pool, as well as an indoor pool with Jacuzzi, and an indoor kid’s pool.
Speaking of kids, there is a Kid’s Corner at Grecian Sands, which is in the hotel ground’s gardens. The Kid’s Club offers a range of supervised activity during the peak months of July and August. There’s an outdoor playground, with a treehouse and a mock up of a Greek fishing caique. There is a games room with arcade games, billiards, and more.
In the Area
In the area there are a number of tours to choose from, such as the Blue Lagoon Cruise, which gives a great view of the local coastline, along with a couple of one-hour swimming stops with free use of masks and snorkels. There is the Caves Jeep Safari, which takes guests to the interesting rock formations, forgotten churches, and an opportunity to swim at some of Cyprus’s more deserted beaches. There’s the Ghost Town Famagusta tour which explores the former haunt of the beautiful people during the 1960’s, where movie stars, royalty and other celebrities mingled before the war of 1974.
Ayia Napa, just a 20-minute walk to the west, as lots to offer. There’s the quaint Ayia Napa monastery, right in the center of town, part of which is excavated out of the living rock and dedicated to Our Lady of the Forests. One can take a lazy walk along Ayia Napa’s harbor, where fishing caiques dock during the daytime and there are cafes and restaurants galore to choose from. There is the Ayia Napa Sculpture Park, where people peruse the works of 20 sculptors from around the globe.
There are miles of hiking trails in the Cape Greco National Forest Park, which offers peace and quiet, beautiful views, and even bike trails. Cape Greco is a bird watcher’s paradise: It’s a key migration site for raptors, and forms a migratory bottleneck for red-footed falcons, honey buzzards, common kestrels, and many other species. Local species include Cyprus wheateaters, Cyprus warblers, and black francolins.
Nissi Beach is a short bus ride away, and features broad, white sand, crystal clear water, and abundant plant and bird life.
