The family-friendly Grand Resort is on the sea at Limassol, at the approximate center of Cyprus’ south coast. It’s south-facing orientation guarantees daily exposure to the sun’s healing rays all day long. This 5-star resort has garnered the Tripadvisor’s 2024 Traveler’s Choice award, and is considered one of the best five-star facilities on the island. It’s not far from the archeological site of Ancient Amathus, which was one of Cyprus’ ancient royal cities until about 300 BC.

This 255-room resort is just a few kilometers from historic Limassol, its attractions, and its night life. The resort has beautifully landscaped tropical garden-style grounds featuring lots of palm trees and sculpted shrubbery. There’s a Sensory Garden, in which various herbs such as oregano, thyme, parsley and curry grow amongst footpaths and palm trees and treat your senses with wonderful aromas. There’s a beachside free-form pool. The gently curving beach is enclosed at either end by breakwaters, ensuring calm, kid-friendly waters. Just inland from the beach is a brick-paved promenade bordered by a row of magnificent Queen Palm trees serving as a decorative border to the grounds. The seaside free-form pool has an arched bridge as a decorative element, and there is an extensive sandy kid’s playground.

Some facilities include bicycle storage room, dogs allowed up to 10 kilos, hair saloon, flower shop, convenience store, and laundry with dry cleaning service.

Other features and amenities include live music shows and entertainment, cinema nights, dancing and folklore shows, Animation programs, and social and sports programs. In addition there is a spa, fitness gym, free breakfast a game room, and babysitting services. Room types include Ocean View, Family Rooms, and various categories of suites.

Grand Resort by Leonardo gets high marks for its food, cleanliness, its spa, and its service.

Rooms

Rooms and suites fall into a number of different categories, offering three main views. These are Sea View, the Inland View, which emphasizes the immediate environment of the resort to the north, and Garden View, offering a nice vista of the manicured grounds. Rooms are spacious, and elegantly furnished with nicely designed chairs, tables and beds to be found in any resort. Rooms have soft, indirect lighting. The views, especially in the upper floors, are expansive and inspiring. Furnished balconies are spacious and often decorated with plants. Balcony walls are transparent, giving guests unobstructed views.

Room amenities include free Wi-Fi, TV, mini bar, magnifying mirror, laptop-sized safe, hairdryer, full-length mirror, coffee and tea facilities, bathrobes, slippers, AC, bottle water replenished daily, luxury toiletries, and much more.

Deluxe Rooms

Deluxe Rooms come in two View categories: Inland View and Sea View. These have king size beds with padded headboards, sofa beds, a beige color scheme, a great panorama of the hills and mountains north of the resort for inland views and panoramic vistas of the Aegean for sea views, bathrooms with marble sinks, extra-large lcd TVs.

Deluxe Family Rooms

Deluxe family rooms belong in two categories: Deluxe Family Room (Garden View), Deluxe Family Room Sea View. The Deluxe Family Room offers a pleasant Garden View. These rooms meet the Goldilocks standard for small families: they’re just right. There’s a large HD TV at the foot of the king size bed, with bunk beds against one of the walls.

Superior Room Panoramic Sea View

This room offers a tremendous view of the sea by virtue of its elevation, and its corner location, which gives guests a sea view from two complementary angles. Guests are rewarded with a full panoramic sweep of the Aegean, and the coast, for kilometers. Twin beds and sofa bed.

Swim Up Room

The Swim Up Room has a nice garden view, a sunny deck, and its own private plunge pool. It has a walk-in shower, 2 single beds and a bunk bed, for a total of 4 beds.

Swim Up Junior Suites

Swim up Suites come in two categories: Swim Up Junior Suite, and Swim Up Junior Suite Sea View. Swim Up Junior Suite has a garden view. Both have tones of space, twin beds and a set of bunk beds. The bedroom is separated from the rest of the living space by a sliding door for added privacy. The deck and pool are both spacious.

Signature One Bedroom Suites

Two categories: Signature One Bedroom Sea View Suite, Signature One Bedroom Sea View Suite with Hot Tub. These Suites give guests room to roam. There is a separate living room and bedroom. Guests have the option of a soothing, relaxing hot tub.

Presidential Suite

The Presidential Suite offers wonderful views of the Resort’s grounds, and vistas of the Mediterranean. The suite is the size of a small house, but cozy enough for two. There is a large bedroom, and a sitting room, and an expansive furnished balcony.

Deluxe Family Two Rooms Interconnected Sea View

Two Deluxe Family Rooms connected by a pass-through door. Ideal for shared family holidays, or for a group vacation. Ideal for 4 adults and 2 children.

Food and Drink

Açaí Seaview Restaurant occupies a pleasant outdoor seaside location where diners, caressed by the breeze coming in from the Aegean, and shaded by the open-air rush roof.

There’s something about al fresco dining that sharpens the appetite and senses, making a meal that much more pleasurable. Snacks can be had at a table, or delivered poolside.

Yashinoki Asian Restaurant is open to off-site visitors as well as hotel guests. Menus choices include dishes from Japan and all over Asia. Fresh Sushi is served, as well as teppanaki-grilled meats and stir-fried delights, as well as a variety of saki. Meals can be had indoors or outdoors.

The Palms Restaurant (Buffet) has checkerboard-style tiling and bright-blue chairs mirroring the color of the sea. Buffet-style meals are available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Outside visitors are welcome. Traditional Cypriot and Mediterranean dishes are The Palms’ specialty.

Ouzeria By The Sea serves Mediterranean cuisine in a rustic open-air setting.

For lovers of sweets, Jelly Palm Patisserie is open to both hotel guests and outside visitors, where all kinds of confectionary delights are on offer. Jelly Palm stays open late into the night for guests who get a sudden craving for something sweet as a midnight snack.

There is also the Coconut Gellateria, a poolside ice cream parlor serving up all kinds of frozen delights to cool the tongue on hot summer days by the pool.

Bars

Patanir Lobby Bar is and elegantly decorated space just off the resort’s lobby. Some interesting decorative elements are a backlit, tight concentric circle design on the wall below the bar top, and an accordion arch above the back bar. Furnishings include couches, chairs and tables, and swivel bar stools.

All manner of delicious concoctions can be had at the Patinir, and endless enjoyment people watching in this, the beating heart of the resort. Seating is both indoor and outdoor.

Neera Pool Bar is the place for cooling refreshment after spending time working on one’s tan, or having a cooling dip in the pool. Visitors from off-site are welcome as well.

Sake Asian Bar is a great evening spot for get togethers and imbibing in a variety of concoctions, wines and beers with an Asian twist.

Spa and Wellness

Oasis Spa is just that: an oasis of tranquility where guests can be pampered with exotic treatments using ingredients based in Greece, Cyprus and world round. A Guest Advisor gives a personalized consultation and crafts a treatment regime tailor-made for the individual customer’s needs. A variety of group exercise programs are on offer as well, including yoga, Pilates, and stretching sessions. Instructors meet guests where they are, encouraging the best possible outcome in a serene, relaxing environment.

Oasis Spa offers Theme Days, emphasizing various aspects of the wellness regime on specific days. There is even a Wellness Corner at the buffet restaurant, with meals carefully crafted for maximum health impact, with theme days such as Longevity Day, Mediterranean Day, and Detox Day.

Unique treatments include Sunkissed Rebel, a total body treatment which readies one for a perfect, even tan, Cretan Flair, which is the application of local herb-infused products designed to de-toxify, and Royal Blue smooth exfoliation. Mud masks, full body massage, facials, localized massage treatments, and cleansing treatments are just a sample of what the Oasis Spa has to offer. Spa treatments are available for men as well, and even kids.

The resort’s Health Club allows you to keep up with your exercise regimen with a full range of exercise equipment including free weights and just about every exercise machine under the sun in its spacious, uncluttered exercise room.

Fun for Kids

There is a whole range of activities to keep the young ones from toddlers to teenagers happy and occupied at the Grand Resort. The Pups Baby Club is for small children, 3 to 8 years of age. This mini club features an animation team providing supervised, age appropriate activities such as shows, games, adventure-themed competitions, face painting, arts and crafts, all capped off by a children’s dinner buffet at Leonardo Laura Beach and Splash Resort.

The Sago Kids Club is tailored to children 4 to 8 years old. Trained child care professionals guide kids in activities designed to stimulate the imagination. There is a whole range of games, exercises, and toys designed for this age group.

For outdoor activities, there is the outdoor playground set up in the shade of the palms and paved with soft astroturf to mitigate falls and stumbles. Slides, swings, sandboxes, and other classic, safe playground activities are on offer. In addition, there is the children’s paddle pool, only 55cm deep, where kids can play to their heart’s content while mom and dad work on their tans at poolside.

In the Area

Limassol, about five minutes down the road via local busses, in 2014 was rated #3 in the world in its “up and coming in the world” destination category on its list of Top 10 Travelers’ Destinations of the Rise list, and for good reason. At 283,000 metro area, Limassol is the second-largest city on the island after Nicosia. The city features extensive ruins from its archaic era, with graves discovered dating back to 2000 BC.

Favorite destinations in Limassol include its Medieval castle and museum, the beaches of the Akrotiri.

For archeology lovers, there is the spectacular Greco-Roman ruins of Ancient Kourion, less than 2km west of the resort, whose history goes back to the Neolithic Age. Kourion was populated by colonists from Argos, one of ancient Greece’s most important city-states, after the collapse of the Mycenaean Civilization around 1200 BC. Further west of Limassol about 10km is the site of Ancient Amathus, which was one of the royal cities of Cyprus until about 300 BC. Its cult sanctuary of Aphrodite was the second-most important in Cyprus after that of Paphos.

The sights of Limossol’s Old Town are all must-see and include the castle, Limassol Cathedral, and the diminutive Grand Mosque.

The city center is also home to all kinds of night life options; its bars and restaurants and entertainment venues are some of the best in the Mediterranean. They’re what make the modern city so attractive to young visitors.

In addition, there are plenty of boat tours available, as well as the Fasouri Watermania Water Park for family fun. Limassol’s seafront promenade is scenic and beautiful, decorated with 20 sculptures to enjoy along the way. Limassol Zoo doesn’t just house animals; it is also an animal refuge, research center, and breeding center for rare species to be then introduced to the wild.
