Aegean Melathron Hotel

Until fairly recently Halkidiki was Greece’s best-kept secret, a haven for vacationers from nearby Thessaloniki, who built hundreds of vacation homes on its extensive shoreline of crystal clear, aquamarine waters. But then this three-fingered peninsula grouping was opened to the wider touristic world with the construction of resorts and hotels for international travelers. Spread out among more than a dozen detached bungalows surrounding its 8 pools, Aegean Melathron offers a level of cost-effective luxury and privacy seldom seen in Greece, with the added bonus of Greece’s largest city being just an hour or so up the road to be visited and explored at your leisure.

Aegean Melathron attracts repeat visitors year on year. Customers loved the well-designed, well-kept grounds (featuring palms, pines, and abundant greenery), the wide variety of food choices, large, the comfortable rooms, the nice beach and sea view, and the polite and helpful staff.

Rooms

Rooms and Suites are spacious and tastefully appointed with vibrant color schemes reflective of local architectural tropes. Floor to ceiling balcony/terrace doorways are trimmed in warm, natural wood, and much of the furniture is similarly designed with wood. Quilts, throw rugs, and runners warm the bed and tiled floors, and balconies and terraces are nicely furnished with wooden tables and comfy chairs, with wooden railings, and, in some cases covered balconies are framed by an arch over the railings.

Amenities include hair dryer, magnifying mirror, personal hygiene products and phone in the bathrooms. Room has, among others, fridge, phone, hot water kettle, AC, safety deposit box, satellite TV, Wi-Fi, daily linen change, and pillow menu.

Double Rooms Pool/Sea View

Double Rooms come with two view choices: pool and sea.

Pool View looks inward to the grounds and one or more of the half dozen pools and the activity there. Sea View enables you to have the calming vista of sunrises over the Toroneos Gulf and the hills of Sithonia, the middle peninsula of Halkidiki, some 25km distant.

Junior Suites Pool/Sea View

Junior Suites come with two view choices: pool and sea. As already mentioned, sea view offers a calming vista of the beautiful, sparkling waters of the Toroneos Gulf, with the hills of Sithonia on the horizon, and the chance to enjoy the brilliant sunrise, whilst the pool view allows you to check out the goings on of the resort amongst the pools, the pines, and the palms of the landscaped grounds. Junior Suites are located in the bungalows and comprise two rooms. One room has a convertible sofa bed, whilst the other is the master bedroom, with a wall with an inset door dividing the two spaces.

Maisonette Duplex

There are two Maisonette Duplexes available, one of each view, Pool and Sea. The maisonette is on two levels with a wooden staircase connecting the two floors. A living room and bath with shower is on the ground level, and the bedroom with a second bath with bathtub is on the upper level. The maisonettes are in the bungalows.

Suite Sea View

Suite has a large living room, spacious bedroom, and two bathrooms. The master bathroom includes a bath tub that doubles as a spa tub, whilst the second bathroom has a shower cabin. A slider divides the living and bedrooms. Living area has a sofa bed. Welcome gifts, including champagne, fruit basket, and mineral water, are presented to guests upon arrival. Suites are all ground floor, in the bungalows, and have their own terrace.

Suite Superior with Private Pool, Suite With Sharing Pool

The suite with private pool can be found in the bungalows, with the pool on the suite’s terrace. This suite is very roomy, and is divided by a sliding door into a master bedroom and a living area which is convertible into a sleeping area. There are two bathrooms, with the master bath having a spa tub, and the second bath with shower cabin only. Gifts are presented on arrival; flowers, champagne, fruit basket, and mineral water.

A second suite options comes with a sharing pool rather than a private pool.

Presidential Suite

This largest suite in the hotel is in a separate bungalow and close to the beach. It has 3 rooms; a master bedroom, a second bedroom, a spacious living room, and two bathrooms with bathtubs. Included in the floor plan is a kitchenette. The rooms are quite large, and awash with sunlight by virtue of its corner location. Pool has a privacy fence and there are ample, bright-red bougainvilleas bordering the pool area which bloom in season.

Food and Drink

Aegean Melathron has four excellent restaurants to choose from; the main restaurant, Aegeas, with its wide selection and wonderful view of the sea, Artemis, with its themed nights and poolside location, the Mistral A La Carte, with its Mediterranean menu, and the Il Gusto Self Service Restaurant, featuring various ready to eat snacks and salads.

The Aegeas restaurant serves breakfast and dinner at its sea view location. Breakfast includes an American-style buffet. In the evenings its buffet style theme nights, including Greek, Italian, Mexican and Asian. Dress code obtains at the Aegeas.

The Artemis Restaurant, similar to the Aegeas,serves buffet-style breakfast and dinner and has themed night menus, and also has a dress code.

The Mistral A La Carte specializes in Mediterranean dishes in a quiet spot not far from the beach. It’s open for lunch and dinner.

The Il Gusto Self-Service Restaurant is a poolside venue that allows you to slip out of the water and order a quick snack or salad.

Bars

Aegean Melathron boasts a total of six bars. The flagship bar is the Olympos, which you will find in the main building, not far from the pools. Live music is on offer nightly at the Olympos.

The Toroneos has a great sea view, and also provides live music in the evenings.

The Thalassa Beach Bar is where you can incorporate your refreshments and snacks without ever leaving the beach. Everything from water to coffee to frozen confections, to beers and soft drinks and various snacks and sandwiches are on offer.

The Helios Pool Bar provides everything you need to make your day at poolside that much more pleasant: sorbets, coffee, soft drinks, water and ice cream are all available, as well as snacks such as toasted sandwiches, cold sandwiches and hotdogs.

The Dolphin Pool Bar is another poolside venue which can be utilized for a break while working on your tan with all kinds of liquid refreshment and snack and sandwich items.

Spa and Wellness

The Thalasso Spa Aegean-style spa has every kind of treatment needed to renew and rejuvenate your body and your mind. Guests are offer a tailor-made spa experience suited for their needs.

Activities

There are all kinds of activities on offer at Aegean Melathron. You can take day cruises courtesy of the Aquaspeed charter company, and visit secluded beaches of Kassandra, enjoy the clear waters of the Toroneos Gulf, have a meal in a traditional Greek seaside restaurant, or take in a beautiful sunset.

Activities available on site include tennis, beach volley, pilates, aquagym, aerobics, and table tennis.

In the Area

In addition to boat cruises in the area, consider a visit to nearby Thessaloniki.
