Alexander the Great Beach Hotel is configured in a large central section, with two slightly smaller wings branching off at either end at an angle towards the sea, giving guests with sea view rooms a generous view of the manicured grounds and the main pool. The hotel’s comfortable, oversized rooms come in several categories offering different views of the surroundings and different floor plans, all impeccably appointed and decorated with the goal of making you fell instantly at home. Rooms have pleasant, pastel color scheme, with crème-colored walls, white ceilings, and mottled grey, black and blue room-sized rug whose undulating striped pattern mimics the waves of the sea. Furniture is sturdy and a bit rustic, including beds with tall posters at their heads and sturdy wood-stained bed tables. The upholstered furniture items are wide and comfortable. Bathrooms have stained wood cabinets, corian or marble sink tops, marble-clad walls, and bathtubs with rain showers and come with bathrobes, slippers and towels. Deluxe Rooms come in three categories: Front Sea View, Side Sea View, and Inland View Family.

The Front Sea View Deluxe Rooms are the hotel’s most popular and highest ranked. This is because of the view, which overlooks the grounds and the pools and the Paphos Boardwalk, and then provides an unobstructed panorama of the glittering blue Mediterranean. In the afternoons the rooms are flooded with clear sunlight.

The Side Sea View Deluxe rooms are different in what you see off the balcony; instead of the sea, you get a nice view of the gardens and their swaying palms, with the sea being part of the view. They are also larger than the Sea View rooms and can accommodate an additional guest.

Kanika Alexander gives you five choices of food venues: the Café Royal, the Roxane Restaurant, the Garibaldi Ristorante Italiano, the Seven Orchids Asian restaurant, and the Limanaki Tavern.

The Café Royal is a pleasant indoor/al fresco  restaurant specializing in international-style breakfast and lunch. This buffet-style venue also has live cooking stations.

The Roxane Restaurant (named after Alexander the Great’s wife) is Kanika Alexander’s flagship restaurant specializing in themed, buffet-style dining, with waiter-served drinks. They also have a menu for kids. The restaurant is elegantly appointed, with gold patterned carpets, rich, yellow indirect lighting, and upholstered wooden chairs with armrests.

Garibaldi Ristorante Italiano

The Garibaldi Ristorante Italiano is adults only, and offers a four course meal of a variety of Italian-based dishes. Some favorites include the rocket salad with dry figs and pomegranate, Italian minestrone soup with Parmesian shavings, goat cheese ravioli, and aborio seafood risotto with vine tomatoes.

The Seven Orchids Asian restaurant has outdoor outdoor dining on a deck terrace with wonderful sea views. It’s a la carte menu features sushi and teppanyak, among others.

The Limanaki Tavern is open air, covered Greek-themed restaurant at poolside. It offers traditional Cypriot and Greek dishes including meze, horiatiki salad, prawns and grilled octopus, pork souvlaki, and grilled chicken thighs.

Bars

Alexander’s Bar is a classy cocktail bar serving cocktails, beers and wines, cognacs, soft drinks, and coffees. The décor, the antique feel of the furnishings, and the atmosphere all give the impression of quiet elegance.

On the other hand, the Havana Venue is a little like a mini Vegas, with its nightly stage shows, pretty girls, and varied entertainment offerings, including kids’ disco parties. In the Area

Paphos is a UNESCO World Heritage site, one of about 900 such sites in the world. The criteria for such sites are those having “cultural, historical, scientific or other form of significance.” Some of those having such significance in Paphos include Old Paphos, now called Kouklia, on a hill east of the modern city, the traditional birthplace of Aphrodite, goddess of love. Remains of the ancient city and its sanctuary can be viewed. The Paphos Archeological Park includes the ruins of four large Roman-era villas with well-preserved mosaic floors.

The Paphos pedestrian boulevard on the seafront is famous for its beauty and makes for a pleasant walk in the cool of a summer evening. Paphos Segway Tours take you to all the famous sites in the city and environs, which has been likened to an open-air museum.

The Paphos Castle is a must see, as well as St. Paul’s Pillar, where Church tradition holds that the Apostle Paul was flogged 39 times by the Roman Proconsul of Cyprus, Sergius Paulus, after which he himself converted to Christianity after Elymas the sorcerer was struck blind after trying to discourage Sergius Paulus from the faith.

Paphos is full of restaurants and night spots for those desiring a little nightlife. There are all kinds of tours, both on land and sea , available for sightseers wishing to have a broader view of the environs of this historical city.

The Paphos Aphrodite Water Park provides hours of fun in the sun on its slides, tunnels and pools. An introductory course in Scuba Diving can also he had in the Discover Scuba Diving tour, during which octopuses and sea turtles can be encountered in the crystal clear waters of the Aegean.
