The Ivi Mare

The subscript below Louis Hotels’ Ivi Mare resort’s stylized logo leaves no doubt as to who this 5-star resort (opened in 2019) is for. It reads, “Designed for adults.” Situated on the southwest coast of Cyprus, the Ivi Mare is close (12 km.) to the Paphos airport and was built for, and caters to, the needs of adults. The sunsets are magnificent, and the grounds are immaculate. This is a perfect getaway location for adults seeking peace, quiet and beauty.

White seems to be the color of choice at the Ivi Mare: it is the color of the main building, the chief color of the lobby and reception area, the predominate color of its restaurants, bars, and rooms. Overall white is used to great effect, especially when contrasted with the aquamarine of the drapes, pillows and rugs of many of the rooms. White is also the color in which dirt shows up most easily, and you won’t find a spot of it at this beautiful resort. Ivi Mare has some pretty unique features, including an on-call doctor, bell-boy service, and a “guest representative” who regularly canvasses the resort and ask guests how their stay is going, which gives the resort employees instant feedback on their efforts to please their guests.

At the Ivi Mare you’ll find one main, and two a la carte restaurants, an indoor and outdoor pool, (the indoor pool is heated during the winter), hot tub/outdoor Jacuzzi, and a fitness room, among many other amenities. There is a full-service spa with sauna and steam room and a full menu of treatments and services.

Guests love the Ivi Mare’s care and attention to detail. They also have praise for the large pool, the excellent spa, the quality of the food, (especially the sumptuous breakfast), the prompt, polite room service, and the sparkling room design. Another plus is the bus stop just outside the resort which has busses running to Paphos every 10 minutes.

Rooms

The Ivi Mare offers 148 Superior and Deluxe rooms and Junior suites. Rooms and suite are tastefully designed, interacted with the brilliant light of Cyprus in perfect harmony, so that the interaction of the beauty of the rooms with the views outside the doors is seamless and natural. They are designed with couples in mind, whether they be honeymooners, or older couples looking to re-charge their romantic bond. Amenities include a welcome treat on arrival, SAT-TV, mini bar, Nespresso, tea and coffee facilities, free wifi, AC and heating depending on the season, hairdryer, luxury bathroom amenities, and safe.

Superior Room

Superior Room comes in two categories: Inland View and Sea View. Rooms are 27m². They sleep 2 people. They come equipped with either a Queen double bed, or two twin beds. Sea View overlooks the pool, the beach, and the sea. Inland view overlooks the gardens and the hilly landscape of Cyprus. Décor is crème, off-white, with muted turquoise draperies, wall designs, and pillow and bed covers. Bathrooms are roomy, with state of the art fittings and amenities.

Superior Room with Private Outdoor Jacuzzi is also 27m² and has a queen double bed. Inland View and Sea View. The balcony is large and home to a beautiful outdoor Jacuzzi where you and your loved one can soak and take in the sunset at the end of a busy, fun-filled day

Deluxe Room with Sea view

33m². Sleeps up to 3 people. One queen and one single bed. This larger room affords a beautiful view of the Med from the furnished balcony. WC, bathroom and shower are separate. Furnished balcony gives you a view of the pool area and the sea.

Junior Suite with Private Outdoor Hot Tub

The Junior Inland View suites are 33m². They sleep up to 3. There is a queen double bed and a single bed. The view is inland, overlooking the grounds and the surrounding area. A Jacuzzi is installed on the large balcony for your enjoyment.

Food and Drink

The Ivi Mare is served by three restaurants and two bars. The Palletes Main Restaurant is open every day of the week and serves themed-based evening meals which change daily. They offer buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant is on a ground floor patio near the pool and gardens.

Palettes Main Restaurant

Palletes specializes in locally-sourced food whipped up using traditional Mediterranean and Cypriot cuisine traditions. Breakfast features fresh bread, egg specialties, pastries and locally grown fruit. Some evening themes include Cypriot, Italian, and International. Buffets include live cooking stations. Specialty meals, such as vegan and diabetic, are available on request.

Meze by Elliniko Restaurant

Meze by Elliniko is an a la carte restaurant in a smaller surrounding with a chalkboard notifying customers of special dishes. It specializes in Greek dishes and models itself after the traditional food markets in Thessaloniki. Various foods, such as cheeses, olive oil and other ingredients can be purchased on entering the restaurant, while a variety of Greek menu items can be ordered once the customer is seated.

Akakiko Restaurant

Akakiko is a wonderful a la carte Asian Fusion (combines traditional Asian techniques with other traditions such as Mexican or American) restaurant which can cap off another day of indulgence relaxation. On offer are sushi, sweet and sour duck, and lemon chicken as well as many others.

The Mirrors Indoor Bar specializes in cocktails and nightcaps and features a bright, all-white décor and upholstered furnishings which lend an air of elegance to its interior space. Service is prompt and personal, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are available.

The Utopia Pool Bar is on the pool patio and is the ideal spot for a refreshing drink either before or after you take a dip in the pool. You can relax on a sun bed and imbibe your favourite alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink as a prelude to your midday meal.

Spa and Wellness

The Aegeo Spa is a full-service facility designed to fulfill every desire you have in treatments which restore your body into harmony with its environment, leach away the stresses of day-to-day life, and leave your skin alive, elastic and glowing with health. When you visit the Aegeo Spa you’ll be presented with an array of treatments and services which you can design yourself for some “me” time, if undergoing treatments by yourself, or “we” time, if taken with your spouse, family member, or partner.

Wellness and Spa

Professional therapists then take over, administering an array of treatments including deep body massage with red grape-infused oil, Cretan massage with an oil base with raki and orange extracts, Black Lava facial cleansing, a deep pressure massage which dates from the ancient Olympic Games, a foot and sole massage to restore microcirculation in the feet.

Other treatments include the Aloe Shine, a full body application to moisturize and heal your skin, Hydra Face, which combines Cretan avocado and olive oil in a face massage, and even kids’ massages such as Strawberries Kids’ Massage and Caramel Kids’ Massage.

Other facilities at the spa include a sauna and steam room, a fully-equipped fitness room, and an indoor pool.

In The Area

The Ivi Mare Resort and Spa is within walking distance of beautiful Paphos Harbor, with its palm tree-lined boardwalk, shops, and restaurants. It makes for a perfect evening stroll, during which you can mix with the locals. There is a bus stop just outside the hotel where busses pass by about every 15 minutes.

Visit the Tombs of the Kings in nearby Mouttalos, and Aphrodite’s Rock, which is where legend holds that Aphrodite, goddess of love, emerged from the waves on an oversized oyster shell. There are a number of inland excursions you can take from Paphos as well, including the Surf and Turf Full Day Jeep and Boat Combination Tour which combines swimming, boating and overland travel to see the wilds of the Akamos Peninsula, and a buggy tour of Turtle Bay, Adonis Falls, and Lara Bay.

Limmasol, Cyprus’ most cosmopolitan city, is just a hop, skip and jump away (about 70km), where you can easily spend the entire day and still not begin to exhaust its riches. You can also charter boat trips up and down the coast, and visit places such as the Sea Caves, and the Blue Lagoon.
